Job Description
The Engineering & Maintenance Manager plays a critical leadership role in overseeing all technical, engineering, and maintenance functions to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous plant operations. This role involves managing the design, installation, and maintenance of noodle production lines and supporting systems, while driving improvements in reliability, product quality, and compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities
Plant Design & Machinery Management
Lead the setup, commissioning, and maintenance of production lines including boilers, mixers, sheeting machines, steamers, dryers, and packaging equipment.
Evaluate, select, and procure high-efficiency machinery aligned with production needs, quality standards, and scalability requirements.
Oversee civil works, electrical infrastructure, and automation integration for new and existing production lines.
Production Optimization
Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs and technical SOPs to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on energy efficiency, cost reduction, and waste minimization through lean manufacturing practices.
Analyze equipment performance trends and ensure timely maintenance or upgrades to prevent operational disruptions.
Quality & Regulatory Compliance
Ensure strict adherence to food safety and quality standards (GMP, HACCP, ISO 9001, ISO 22000) as well as local regulations (e.g., OSHA, DOE).
Set technical quality standards for production output and lead investigations and corrective actions for any deviations or breakdowns.
Team Leadership & Development
Lead a team of engineers and maintenance technicians, including recruitment, training, performance management, and task delegation.
Promote a strong safety culture and ensure all team members are trained in equipment operation, troubleshooting, and emergency protocols.
Collaborate with cross-functional departments (Production, QA, R&D, Procurement) to support new product development and operational improvements.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Food Process Engineering.
Experience: Minimum 5 years of engineering or maintenance leadership experience in a food manufacturing or FMCG environment.
Strong knowledge of plant utilities, industrial automation, and food production equipment.
Familiarity with preventive and predictive maintenance tools and CMMS systems.
Sound understanding of food safety systems and audit requirements.
Strong leadership, problem-solving, and cross-functional communication skills.
Working Conditions
Based on-site at the noodle manufacturing facility in Kuala Lumpur.
May require occasional weekend/after-hours availability for breakdowns or urgent technical issues.
