Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Provide primary legal support and advice to the stakeholders on a wide variety of legal and regulatory matters, including conducting legal research and advising on legal and regulatory developments in relation to payments industry.
Draft, review and revise legal contracts including product agreements, sales agreements and partnership agreements, and other legal and/or commercial or corporate documents.
Create or enhance standardize agreements for products and services.
Monitor and analyse relevant laws and regulations, proposing necessary changes to internal policies and processes to mitigate risks and exposures.
Able to identify and comprehend all issues in contracts being negotiated and comprehensively obtain/describe contractual feedback required from stakeholders.
Support the development and implementation of new policies and procedures for the company.
Assist in administrative legal tasks by maintaining and upkeep documentation/record keeping protocols and process of the department, including handling applications and related processes for the company's intellectual property rights.
Providing and assisting in preparing periodic trainings on legal related matters to business units.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Must-Have:
Bachelor's Degree in Law, Professional Degree or equivalent and called to the English Bar or Malaysian Bar.
Minimum 3-4 years of post-qualification experience, with a preference of 1-2 years as in house counsel.
Experience in drafting and negotiating on any commercial contracts.
Demonstrable advocacy and oral and written communication skills, including the ability to influence different business functions.
Excellent people management skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines and to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in English and Mandarin to effectively communicate with Mandarin-speaking clients (spoken and written).
Nice-to-Have:
Relevant experience in payments industry is a plus.
Familiarity with contributing to legal programs (e.g. trainings, template contracts review).
Relevant knowledge of corporate M&A is a plus but not required.
