Job Description
Job Purpose:
To ensure all civil and structural works at the solar farm construction site are carried out in compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and quality requirements. The QA/QC Inspector – Civil & Structural will conduct inspections, report on work progress and quality, and coordinate with the project team to address non-conformances.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Inspection of Civil Works:
Inspect site preparation and earthworks (cutting, filling, grading, compaction).
Supervise excavation, backfilling, and compaction for cable trenches and foundations.
Monitor construction of:
Reinforced concrete foundations for inverter stations, transformers, and equipment pads.
Access roads, perimeter fencing, and drainage systems.
Oversee on-site material quality (gravel, concrete, rebar, formwork) and placement.
2. Inspection of Structural Works:
Inspect installation of PV mounting structures (pile driving, racking systems).
Check alignment, torque, verticality, and anchoring of support structures.
Monitor handling, storage, and erection of structural steel and pre-fabricated frames.
Verify welding quality (visual inspections), bolted connections, and structural tolerances.
3. QA/QC Implementation:
Review and apply Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and Method Statements.
Ensure compliance with design drawings, standards (ASTM, ACI, ISO, BS), and specifications.
Conduct field and laboratory material testing:
Concrete slump tests, cube tests
Soil compaction tests (FDT, proctor, etc.)
Bolt torque tests and weld inspections (visual or via NDT support)
4. Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain detailed inspection checklists, test results, and daily QA/QC logs.
Prepare NCRs and ensure timely resolution of quality issues.
Assist in preparing quality records for work completion and handover (as-built QA files).
5. Coordination & Support:
Liaise with contractors, subcontractors, site engineers, and QA/QC team.
Participate in site coordination and quality review meetings.
Support the HSE team in ensuring civil/structural work is performed safely and in compliance.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
Experience:
At least 3–5 years experience in QA/QC inspection roles for civil and/or structural works.
Preferably with experience on solar PV, renewable energy, or infrastructure projects.
Skills & Knowledge:
Good understanding of international construction standards (ASTM, ACI, ISO, BS).
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, bar bending schedules, and structural details.
Proficiency with MS Office and QA/QC documentation tools.
Preferred Certifications (not mandatory but advantageous):
ISO 9001: Quality Management Systems (Internal Auditor or equivalent)
Concrete testing or welding inspection certifications (e.g., CSWIP, AWS, ACI)
Work Environment:
Site-based, outdoor fieldwork in various weather conditions.
